About That Yarrow

In our last post I talked about the Icelandic birch and its wonders. Creating a series out of our herbal library I thought I’d visit with Achillea Millefolium (meaning thousand leaves), widely referred to as yarrow.

Yarrow is one of the oldest known medicinal plants in the world and can be traced to the Trojan War (1260-1240 BC). Yarrow was used on the battlefields as its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties have the capability of slowing bleeding, reducing blood loss and healing wounds.

Found in Ancient Greece, Rome, China, and Native American cultures - its density and composition highly varies from one part of the world to another. The kind we have in Iceland, used by the Vikings to heal wounds, has quite a potent concentration of active ingredients. Its healing power and anti-inflammatory abilities have been used to improve arthritis, aid broken capillaries and protect the skin from allergens and other irritations.

We believe that about every skin type can benefit from yarrow-infused skincare as it’s filled with nutrients and antioxidants protecting against free radicals. The antioxidant’s soothing, nourishing and restorative qualities help deliver noticeably more glowing skin after just a few uses.

Whether your skin is dry, prone to breakouts or if you just want to preserve that youthful  complexion, adding yarrow to your skincare routine promotes skin circulation, helps to unclog pores and diminishes early signs of ageing skin. It has also done wonders for hair care as it boosts healthy growth and promotes shiny hair.

We take such pride in our hand-picked harvests from the untouched lowlands in the south of Iceland; and satisfaction in serving an organic selfcare community all over the world with our mindfully produced products. Once you’ve spent some time in the Icelandic nature - you’ll recognize some of the pure and other worldly scents in our products.

One of my favourite yarrow infused facial product is Fersk which means Fresh!💦  It's is a natural, refreshing and gentle foaming cleanser that quickly removes impurities, dirt and excess oil from the skin.

This weekend I'll be in my natural habitat handpicking yarrow 🏔

Hope you are all save and happy 💚
