Freydís Karlsdóttir is the Sales Manager at Sóley
Favorite Sóley product(s)?
Eygló organic face cream hydrates, heals, and balances my skin. With Birta eye gel, I’m seeing such a big difference around and between my eyes - especially after we reformulated the product. And I love Blær body lotion - it’s moisturizing and soothing for my skin.
What’s does wellness mean to you?
Wellness for me is balance and mental wellness. Exercise and outdoor activities, spending time with people I love - sharing good food and having a good time, and sometimes it’s about downtime and simplifying things.
How do you spend your weekends?
I love meeting up with family and friends over dinner, being outdoors, watching my daughter Hera play football, taking care of the home, relaxing, and enjoying quiet time.
The best advice you use daily that your mom gave you?
My mom always emphasized having a healthy breakfast, which has stayed with me throughout the years.
Do you have a morning ritual or a routine?
I always start the day with a glass of water, then have coffee and sit for a moment reading the news before everyone is up. I'm a morning person, so this is when I catch some alone time.
Favorite movie and book?
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is one of my favorite movies, and I love the books about Karitas by Kristín María Baldursdóttir.
Environmental measures that are most important to you?
To be aware, to do your best in as many areas as possible. I think it’s better to have many who make an effort than few who do everything. I also want to remind our customers who are in Iceland and take advantage of our refill service here at Sóley to reuse the containers with quality products and save quite a bit of money.
What do you love most about living in Iceland?
To be with and have family around, and Icelandic water, naturally ;)
Favorite city?
London always has a big place in my heart - I lived there in my younger years. I also love old European cities that store history and culture in beautiful buildings and monuments. Venice is remarkable - my family and I went there on a holiday pre-pandemic.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Von Mathús in Hafnarfjörður is one of my favorite places - they always serve delicious food with fresh ingredients and wonderful service.
What’s your favourite dish to cook?
I’d love to say that I cook a variety of dishes, but I get obsessed with a couple of dishes at a time and evolve them over time until I’m over it, and then I’m onto the next (whatever that might be). Sometimes I want to go back to some dishes I evolved, but I don't write anything down and don’t really follow recipes, but I always love having wild herbs and fun spices around.
